Oasis: Greek-American artist Fotis Gerakis’s skateboard art

Creative expression is big in the UAE right now, and Dubai’s pioneering art-and-design concept store Cities boutique is preparing to host an exhibition showcasing colourful skateboard art by the Greek-American artist Fotis Gerakis at its store in Galleria Mall in Dubai, from Sunday until April 29. The purpose of the exhibition is to encourage people to discover the world of art that often resides within the realm of design. Gerakis’s skateboard art focuses on contrast, mastery of the self, fantasy and desire, making his work worthy of further examination. It’s designed to offer a challenging perspective on a style and medium that’s typically used to characterise a specific group: the urban youth.
