Snake emojis aside, Taylor Swift's newest single Look What You Made Me Do has got a lot of people talking.

The vengeful lyrics, repetitive chorus and accompanying music video have made it clear the pop star doesn’t forgive and forget.

When the video for the single was released, eyebrows were raised - the pop star seems to have referenced every single person who has ever wronged her.

Although some may worry about the dark turn she seems to have taken, this isn’t the first time she has put jabs at former friends or flames that have crossed her in to her music.

Given the most recent snipes, we decided to take a look back at five other savage songs she’s unloaded in the past:

Picture to Burn (2008)

This should have been our early warning sign that Swift means business when it comes to being heartbroken or feeling betrayed. The song was reportedly inspired by her former high school boyfriend. She dated him briefly before he left her for one of her friends. It's definitely the angriest track on her debut album Taylor Swift.

Better Than Revenge (2010)

The song features the lyrics “there is nothing better I do than revenge”, so we can’t say we weren’t warned, right? Swift wrote the song when she was 18 and it’s reported to be about her failed relationship with Joe Jonas. More so, about the woman he supposedly left her for - actress Camilla Belle. This may well be the harshest song she’s ever released. Despite being catchy and upbeat, the lyrics are actually quite stinging.

Dear John (2010)

Yet another song about a man who wronged the songstress. The slowed down track was said to be about musician John Mayer. In a 2012 interview with Rolling Stone, he talked about how much the song "humiliated" him and made him "feel terrible". After all, the lyrics: "Dear John, I see it all, now it was wrong, don't you think 19 is too young to be played by your dark twisted games, when I loved you so?" are pretty telling.

Mean (2011)

Going back to her country music days, Swift continued showing signs that the best revenge would come through music. The song doesn't specify one person - although it was rumoured to be about music critic Bob Lefsetz. This track boasts about how great her life will become, while (presumably) the person who was mean to her will basically do nothing in life and end up alone. After all, she sings: “All you are is mean, and a liar, and pathetic, and alone in life.” Harsh.

Bad Blood featuring Kendrick Lamar (2015)

This track is much more upbeat, but don’t let that fool you — it’s still a track that shows what happens when you betray Swift in the friendship stakes. Showing that she has friends in high places - there are appearances by Lena Dunham, Selena Gomez, Ellie Goulding, and Gigi Hadid - the premise still centres around revenge and how some things simply can’t be forgiven.
