His music has been played at The Dubai Fountain, and now Abdul Majeed Abdullah's name will soon be engraved on the ground around Downtown Dubai.

The Saudi Arabian singer and composer has been announced as the latest artist to receive a Dubai Star, which will form part of the city's Walk of Fame project when it is unveiled in October.

"Can you guess the next in line to receive our Dubai Star? We're happy to announce it is Abdul Majeed Abdullah! The star is now being crafted," the official Dubai Star account tweeted on Friday, announcing the news.

Abdullah, whose track Ensan Akthar has formed part of the Dubai Fountains' playlist, has released numerous albums over his lengthy career, including 2015's Esmaany and 2014's Haflet Dubai.

The musician is the latest well-known face to receive a Dubai Star in recent days; both footballer Lionel Messi and actor Shah Rukh Khan were given their own tributes as the project continues to roll out its illustrious list of honourees.

Back in April, it was also announced that designer Elie Saab would be featured on the Walk of Fame.

About the Dubai Stars

Emaar announced the Dubai Stars project in March this year. It is set to be located on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard in Downtown Dubai.

In total, there will be 10,000 stars on the walk. However, to begin with, there will be 400 Dubai Stars, which will be voted for by the public and unveiled this October.

The Dubai Walk of Fame will pay homage to local and international personalities from various fields including music and film, of course, but also art, architecture, sport and literature, as well as social influencers.

If you want to nominate anyone for a Dubai Star, act fast. Voting closes at midnight (GST) on Sunday, June 30. Visit nominate.thedubaistars.com to submit your nomination.
