The arguably biggest movie controversy of all time has been debated by three of the biggest film stars of our time: could Jack have shared the floating door with Rose at the end of Titanic?
During the Once Upon a Time In Hollywood press tour, Leonardo DiCaprio, Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt were asked to weigh in on the controversial topic. Titanic star DiCaprio had only "no comment" in response to the query – but that did not stop his co-stars weighing in.
“Oh my gosh, I thought it. I remember bawling my eyes out when I was a girl,” Robbie, 29, says as the three are asked.
“That is the biggest controversy in modern cinema,” Robbie goes on to say. DiCaprio adds with a laugh: “Ever.”
“Could you, could you have squeezed in there? You could’ve, couldn’t you?” Pitt goes on to say to his co-star, which prompted a further “no comment" from DiCaprio.
“Did you mention it at the time? Were you like, should we make the door smaller?” Robbie then said, as DiCaprio laughs and interrupts, saying, “Like I said, I have no comment.”
The ever-diplomatic Pitt concluded that the entire thing is down to "movie magic".

A much-debated topic
Ye olde question of Jack on the door has been debated online for years. In fact, people have dedicated hours to the topic and there are hundreds of Reddit feeds focused on the question. A particular favourite asks, "In Titanic, if Jack and Rose were both laying/sitting on the door, would it still maintain buoyancy and allow both to survive?"
Fans have also acted out ways that they think the two could have made it happen:
In the past, DiCaprio's Titanic co-star, Kate Winslet, has admitted he could have fit, telling Jimmy Kimmel: "I agree ... I think he could have actually fit on that bit of door."
However, director James Cameron defends his work in the 1997 film, saying that it wasn’t a “question of room, but a question of buoyancy”. “When Jack puts Rose on the raft, he tries to get on the raft – he’s not an idiot, he doesn’t want to die – and the raft sinks; it kind of flips.”
Was it even a door?
The conspiracy doesn't even stop there. In the past 24 hours, one particularly eagle-eyed Titanic fan has noticed that it isn't a door that Rose is floating on at all: note Cameron's use of "raft" not "door" in the quote above.
It was, in fact, an ornate piece of door frame, as demonstrated in this Imgur post:
Defiant fans, however, maintain that regardless of what part of a doorway it is, Jack could have still fit.
"They both still could have fit," one commented. With another echoing, "There’s still enough room for both".
A diplomatic commenter added: "I'm pretty sure the point of this post is about noticing the attention to detail, rather than if there was room for Leo on the thing."
