Marvel released the official trailer for its fourth Avengers film titled Avengers: Endgame on Friday. It's already been watched more than 39 million times on YouTube in less than 24 hours. For those who haven't seen Avengers: Infinity War, don't read on unless you enjoy spoilers.

Endgame will pick up after the first film in which bad guy Thanos was successful in wiping out 50 per cent of the population. While the film won't hit theatres until April, here's a look at some of our takeaways from the new trailer:

1) Tony Stark has his "Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope" moment

The trailer starts with Iron Man recording a message through his suit's helmet — a reminder that he's stranded in space on an alien ship and is in desperate need to be saved. The whole thing is reminiscent of the scene from Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope in which Princess Leia relays a message to Obi-Wan Kenobi by recording it on R2-D2. We certainly can't wait to see what the projection of Tony's message will look like — will he be tiny like Leia?

2) The Marvel Studios logo gets decimated too

Perhaps a reminder of the one major event from the last Avengers movie, the Marvel Studios logo which we have come to love and associate with colossal amounts of fun and action, is reduced to dust blowing in the wind. Perhaps it didn't make the cut of the 50 per cent that got to live.

3) Hawkeye is back, and he looks angry

Many wondered where one of the most prominent members of the Avengers, Hawkeye, was during the events of the third film. His absence was very much missed. Although, looking back, one wonders how much he would have helped. Well we can now rejoice as he is back for the fourth instalment. Clint Barton looks very angry, wearing all black, showered in neon light. His presence will definitely boost (half) the team’s chances now.

4) Cap is in the lead

Seeing as Iron Man is stranded in space, and Thor is distraught after having failed to stop Thanos, it's now time for Captain America to take the reins. Clean shaven and down to business, Steve Rogers looks like a man with a plan.

5) It’s Ant-Man, can you buzz me in?

Another superhero whose presence was missed during the war on Thanos was Ant-Man. The tiny (but sometimes colossal) hero is finally here and he looks, well, very confused. If you've seen the post credits for Ant-Man and the Wasp, you'll know just why (the movie is too recent to spoil).

6) Where's Shuri?

Eagle-eyed viewers may have spotted Shuri's face pop-up among a screen of those missing which include Scott Lang (Ant-Man) and Peter Parker (Spider-Man). The sister of T'Challa, we're not really sure if she survived the The Decimation but knowing Scott did and Peter didn't, it'll be interesting to see what her role is.

7) It just feels like the end

Sure, the Avengers lost at the end of Infinity War and there's still a chance for redemption but this film just feels downright sombre. It's hard to feel like this isn't the end of an era — even if they manage to overcome Thanos. With Iron Man launching the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008 and Chris Evans already saying goodbye to Captain America, fans will likely say goodbye to some of their familiar heroes.
