North Korea has issued fresh nuclear threats to the United States, calling President Donald Trump ‘the rabid man in the White House’ and warning the country will face an ‘unimaginable strike at an unimaginable time’.
North Korea’s state news agency KCNA released the latest statement threatening the US on Thursday alongside some pictures of leader Kim Jong-un visiting a shoe factory.
“The US is running amok by introducing under our nose the targets we have set as primary ones. The US should expect that it would face unimaginable strike at an unimaginable time,” the statement read.

In stark contrast to the harsh rhetoric in the statement, the accompanying pictures show a beaming Mr Kim holding shoes at the factory in Pyongyang with his wife Ri Sol Ju.
Another official statement issued on Thursday insulted President Trump personally, while threatening an ‘immense volley of nuclear fire’ should he attempt to use nuclear weapons on North Korea.
“The US is different from the DPRK [North Korea]. Historically, it is the chieftain persistently threatening the DPRK,” the second statement read.
“The rabid man in the White House … will first face the immense volley of nuclear fire if he hopes to settle (this) confrontation with nukes.”
The new insults break a period of relative calm between the two countries, which followed a tense week last month when Mr Trump and the North Korean leader traded personal barbs.
The US president began referring to Mr Kim as “rocket man”, while Mr Kim referred to Mr Trump as a “dotard”.
Pyongyang has drawn further international condemnation this year over its expanding nuclear missile programme.
On Monday, the isolated regime threatened other countries with nuclear attack if they allied themselves with the US.
“The entire US mainland is within our firing range," a North Korean ambassador said in a statement.
"And if the US dares to invade our sacred territory even an inch it will not escape our severe punishment in any part of the globe."
