The battle against ISIL-linked militants in the southern city has entered its third month

Fighting in the Philippine city of Marawi shows no sign of ending soon as the battle between government forces and ISIL-linked militants there enters its third month.

The military has admitted it underestimated the extremists who swept through the southern city on May 23 and have held parts of it ever since, despite a large ground and air assault by government forces.
