Longstanding ties between the UAE and China are an example to be followed, said the UAE’s Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development.

Noura Al Kaabi said relations between the two countries are based on mutual respect and love.

"The UAE and China have advanced their relations towards a greater understanding, through mutual visits and shared desires that have deepened and developed their bilateral relations,” she said.

The UAE is working to promote cultural exchange between the two countries, which will improve relations between their citizens and develop other sectors, she said.

"We are working with China to unify our efforts and organise joint art and creative exhibitions."

Ms Al Kaabi launched UAE-China Week on Tuesday ahead of the start of President Xi Jinping's visit on Thursday.
