Taxi TV security roll-out begins

ABU DHABI // A year-long project to install CCTV security cameras inside all Abu Dhabi taxis was launched on Saturday.

In this roll-out stage, 100 taxis of various models will be selected to be outfitted with the cameras.

The second phase will be carried out within a year and will include the installation of security cameras across the entire Centre for Regulation of Transport by Hire Cars taxi fleet.

The cameras are meant to enable the Centre’s specialists to monitor taxi journeys in order to ensure the safety of both the driver and the passenger. The installation of these cameras will also play an important role in raising the efficiency of the process of returning lost and found items to their respective owners, according to the Centre.
