The Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) has fired 89 taxi drivers this year.

Drivers were terminated for committing a number of offenses, including jumping a red signal, accumulating too many black points, complaints from customers and traffic accidents.

“The DTC is always keen on delivering top-class services to customers and has therefore opted to re-qualify poor-performance drivers by subjecting them to specialist training workshops. Besides that, it runs a number of educative campaigns aimed at raising the awareness of cabdrivers in matters related to road safety, curbing traffic accidents as well as boosting the satisfaction of cabdrivers and customers alike,” said Marwan Othman, director of human resources at DTC.
