Drivers of GCC cars can now pay for Abu Dhabi parking by SMS

All visitors from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman need is a UAE-registered number to use the service

Drivers of GCC-registered vehicles can now pay for parking in Abu Dhabi through the text messaging service.

Previously, visitors from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman had to use  the Mawaqif parking meters or the Mawaqif rechargeable card.

On Monday, the capital's Integrated Transport Centre said the new service meant that they could now send an SMS containing a specific code from a UAE-registered phone number to pay for their parking spot.

The SMS, sent to 3009, is charged according to the tariff of service providers, the ITC said.

The ITC said they could still use other methods to pay for parking, such as Mawaqif Payment machines or the Mawaqif rechargeable card. They can also use the Darb application or pay through M-mawaqif.
