Dubai Health Authority will light up to support diabetes

The Dubai Health Authority hopes to light 11,000 light bulbs in a circle to earn a Guinness World Record as part of awareness efforts about diabetes.

DUBAI // The beholder of the world title for forming the largest light-bulb circle could soon be the Dubai Health Authority.

DHA aims to earn the title while showing support and raising awareness about diabetes, which affects about one in five people in the UAE, the authority said on Tuesday.

The endeavor to light 11,000 bulbs at Burj Park in downtown Dubai on December 25 is part of the DHA’s Stay Strong campaign, which in turn is part of the Dubai Against Diabetes programme.

The event will be called Celebrating the Moment and kicks off the emirate’s diabetes programme, DHA said.
