Dubai Health Authority to hold workshops ahead of health insurance deadline

DUBAI // The Dubai Health Authority will conduct workshops in hospitals as it faces a high demand for buyers ahead of the mandatory health insurance deadline.

Workshops will be held at Rashid Hospital from June 26 to 30, Hatta Hospital from July 11 to 14, Nad Al Hamar Health Centre from July 17 to 21, Al Barsha Health Centre from July 24 to 28 and Mizhar Health Centre from September 1 to 4.

Similar events took place at Latifa Hospital and Dubai Hospital earlier this month, the authority said.

The workshops were aimed at helping the public attain insurance from companies that have been shortlisted to provide the basic insurance package at Dh550 to Dh700, according to the state news agency, Wam.

Every sponsor has a legal liability to provide an essential insurance packaged in this price range, so that people with salaries under Dh4,000 have adequate coverage, according to a 2013 Dubai law.
