Thick fog blanketed much of Dubai on Friday morning to make a wintry picture for those out early.

While much of mist had burned off by 9am, hazy patches across the city made for some tricky driving conditions.

It was a similar scene across much of the country, as a red warning from The National Centre for Meterology and Seismology (NCMS) remained in place overnight warning motorists to prepare for low visibility.

Warmer, humid evenings and cooler mornings create the natural phenomenon commonly seen at this time of year across the Emirates.

Dubai Police issued a warning on social media, just after 7am appealing to drivers to take extra care on Sheikh Zayed Road, E311 Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, Emirates Road and the E66 Dubai Al Ain Road.

The forecast ahead remains much the same, with more fog and mist formation expected for Saturday and Sunday morning over most internal and coastal areas of the country, but warmer temperatures later on during the day and clearer skies.

By Monday, there could be further chance of rain sweeping into western and northern parts of the UAE, with strong winds of up to 35 kilometres per hour also expected.
