It follows major storms across the UAE in recent weeks, with torrential rain and high winds hitting the country on Sunday.  It followed a period of bad weather on the east coast late last month, as a result of Cyclone Kyarr.

Top temperatures were expected to hit 32 degrees on Friday, with rain a possibility on the UAE's north eastern coast and in the east of Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi island was predicted to escape the rain, with a 'mostly sunny' day predicted.
