DUBAI // Police have recommended reviewing the list of banned drugs to include certain medications used to treat chronic, psychological and neurological illnesses such as diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases.
Research has shown that certain drugs used for these conditions contain more than 100 components that trigger the same effects as narcotic drugs so police are recommending that patients only receive such drugs with a prescription.
Colonel Khaled Al Sumaiti, first chemical expert at the General Department of Criminal Evidence and Criminology at Dubai Police, said that drug users are buying certain drugs over-the-counter and are using them for recreational purposes, so a review of the list could help prevent abuse.

Cheat’s nigiri
This is easier to make than sushi rolls. With damp hands, form the cooled rice into small tablet shapes. Place slices of fresh, raw salmon, mackerel or trout (or smoked salmon) lightly touched with wasabi, then press, wasabi side-down, onto the rice. Serve with soy sauce and pickled ginger.
