Screwdriver-tossing gamesman not guilty of gambling, says Dubai court

DUBAI // A man accused of organising a public gambling game has been acquitted by Dubai Criminal Court.

MH, a 28-year-old Bangladeshi, was arrested in Al Naif when police saw him and a group of other men gathered around a plastic table, tossing a screwdriver into a ring formed by a belt and placing bets as to where it would land.

Emirati policeman, YM, said the men ran away when he approached them but he was able to arrest MH.

He was charged with organising illegal gambling but told the court he had no hand in arranging the game and was only responsible for collecting money from those who lost.
