Almost two dozen people have been rescued from a house fire in Abu Dhabi. The fire broke out in the first floor of a villa in Mushrif before spreading to the rest of the house, according to police. The villa was divided into nine units that were inhabited by various families. Civil Defence said 21 people, from a variety of nationalities and aged from 2 months to 47 years old, were rescued from the house. Three of the residents were taken to hospital for smoke inhalation. The fire was brought under control by an Al Qubaisat Civil Defence Centre team, who handed the site over to police to begin investigating the cause. On Saturday, police called on the public to abide by fire safety standards to help avoid similar incidents.
