Lulu chairman truly deserves Golden Card he was awarded

I write to you in reference to Ramola Talwar Badam's article Lulu Group chairman Yusuff Ali receives UAE's first residency golden card (June 3).

I was pleasantly surprised to read that Lulu group chairman Yusuff Ali was one of the very first recipients of the UAE Golden Card, which allows beneficiaries to remain indefinitely in the country. This is a fitting homage to the man and his legacy in Abu Dhabi. He has been working in the capital for decades and has contributed to the UAE’s success story. We need more people like him in the UAE, to inspire the younger generation and boost the economy even more. Mr Ali truly deserves this honour.

Abu Dhabi heritage sites must be preserved from demolition

I write to you in reference to John Dennehy's article Abu Dhabi's Mina Zayed demolition works to start within weeks (June 3).

I was very saddened to read about this. Mina Zayed in Abu Dhabi is an authentic

heritage site that must be

preserved for future generations to remember this country’s history.

Why are such beautiful heritage sites – which truly represent the beating heart of Abu Dhabi – allowed to be destroyed? I hope that at least some part of the site will be preserved. I for one will miss the mina.

Donald Trump is not helping with peace in the Middle East

I write to you in reference to a video by The National captioned: Trump says Israel should get its act together as it heads towards fresh elections (June 3).

I see little

appetite for achieving peace in the Middle East from the US side. It looks like Trump’s

strategy is based on a simple rule: divide and conquer.

Tolerance should not depend on outcome of football match

I write to you in reference to Jamie Prentis's article Mo Salah may have caused fall in Islamophobia in Liverpool, says report (June 3).

I think it’s sad that Britons have had to wait for someone like Mo Salah to score goals for Liverpool FC to give respect our Muslim brothers and sisters. People should have been respectful to Muslims for humanity’s sake. This should not depend on the outcome of a football match. At any rate, Salah did a good job and I hope he continues to inspire people.
