Empowerment lies at the heart of both Kayla Itsines and Kelsey Wells’s fitness regimes, and the two instructors cite confidence and emotional health as coveted outcomes of working out. Health buffs in Dubai will get a chance to see exactly what they’re talking about this December, when Itsines and Wells make their way to the UAE for Dubai Active. Itsines, who is the founder of Bikini Body Guide, and Wells, who advocates the PWR (power) style of working out, will host fitness sessions and meet-and-greet sessions with participants and fans. The BBG and Sweat with Kayla founder is from Australia, has 11.8 million Instagram followers and is a legit record-breaker. In in 2015, she became the first trainer to conduct sessions for more than 30,000 women in person during her World Bootcamp Tour, while Itsines and the BBG Community broke five Guinness World Records in Melbourne in November 2016. In 2018, the 28-year-old was named one of Time Magazine’s top 25 Most Influential People on the Internet. Her workout style includes strength training, resistance workouts and beginner's guides, and she's also tracked her journey through pregnancy and post-partum fitness. “I’m so excited to be attending Dubai Active this year. For me, health and fitness is a lifestyle, not something that takes over your life and I want to help women to feel strong and confident without spending hours in the gym. I can’t wait to train and meet all the amazing BBG ladies in Dubai”, says Itsines. Wells rose to fame after her “Screw the Scale” image went viral. Her message? To encourage women to ignore the figure on their weighing scale and focus on inner strength. For all of that, Wells is a proponent of weightlifting and her PWR sessions encourage women to lift weights without feeling intimidated or inhibited. The 30-year-old has 2.5 million followers on Instagram. “This will be my first time visiting Dubai to host my live PWR session, so I cannot wait to meet and train with those in the region. I want to help them empower themselves through fitness, unleash their inner strength and understand that fitness is not only about aesthetics, it’s about taking care of our health – mental, emotional and physical,” says Wells. Held in collaboration with Dubai Sports Council from Thursday, December 5 until Saturday, December 7 at DWTC, Dubai Active includes fitness classes, meet-and-greet and Q&A sessions, nutritional talks and an exhibition with product demos and freebies from more than 200 fitness brands. Kayla Itsines and Kelsey Wells at Dubai Active, Dubai World Trade Centre, December 5 to 7, Dh55 (general admission), Dh80 (two-day ticket), Dh110 (three-day ticket), dubaiactiveshow.com
