Getting to Oman from Abu Dhabi just got a lot cheaper as Salam Air has launched a route between the UAE capital and Muscat, with return fares from Dh383.

From Tuesday, September 10, the low-cost airline will fly four times a week from Muscat to Abu Dhabi.

Flights depart Abu Dhabi at 11.05am with a flight time of one hour. The service operates on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays making it ideal for a long weekend trip.

Abu Dhabi joins Dubai, Jeddah, Riyadh and Kuwait City as destinations connected to Muscat via Salam Air. The airline also launched a route from Oman's Salalah to Abu Dhabi in July this year.

"Combined with our current popular flights to Dubai, our Abu-Dhabi direct flights offer yet another dimension to travellers going on to the UAE or connecting though Muscat to other places," said Captain Mohamed Ahmed, CEO of Salam Air.

As a budget airline, Salam Air offers passengers value fares with the chance to add options for extra luggage, seat selection and on-board meals. Customers that book meals can save 10 per cent on the cost.

The airline is planning to add more regional destinations to its network and doubles its fleet number by the end of 2020.
