Ikea has announced the recall of two crockery lines, the Heroisk and Talrika ranges, due to reports of breakages.

The recall has been rolled out globally, including products bought at the Swedish furniture company's UAE stores.

The entire line, including plates, bowls and mugs, are included, "as they can break and potentially cause burns due to hot content," Ikea says.

Customers who have bought affected items are eligible for a full refund, with or without a proof of purchase.

A statement from the retailer reads: "Ikea urges all customers who own Heroisk or Talrika plates, bowls, and mugs to stop using them and to contact Ikea for a full refund.

"Safety is a top priority for Ikea and therefore we are taking precautionary measures and recalling Heroisk and Talrika plates, bowls, and mugs as they can break and potentially cause burns due to hot content.

"All our products are tested and comply with applicable standards and legislation. Despite this we have received reports of the products breaking."

There are four Ikea stores in the UAE, the most recent opening was at Abu Dhabi's Al Wahda Mall in November 2020.
