Madonna marked her 60th birthday with an extended celebration in Morocco. She stayed at El Fen, a luxurious 28-room riad in Marrakech owned by Richard Branson’s sister, Vanessa, which has long been a favourite with the world’s A-listers.
As part of their Moroccan adventure, the queen of pop and her family took part in an impromptu photoshoot with British-Moroccan artist, filmmaker and photographer Hassan Hajjaj, who has been dubbed the “Andy Warhol of Marrakech” because of his Middle East-inspired, pop art aesthetic.
“Life can be sweet and sour and sometimes a suprise can happen that you never would think of and this was one of does moments, want to thank Madonna and her lovely family and being patient for the shoot at my riad, also thank Madonna team for making this happen and my team also, happy birthday,” Hajjaj posted on his Instagram account.
Madonna was joined in Morocco by family and friends, including American actress and television personality Debi Mzar. The two were photographed sporting traditional Moroccan outfits and head gear.
Madonna also took time to take a “mystical walk thru the desert”.
