Ahead of Harrison Ford's arrival to Dubai for the World Government Summit, and in the days following his "apocalyptic climate change warning", here we look at the other celebrities who make a point of speaking out about climate change and environmental issues.
Beyond Harrison Ford
Most famous, perhaps, is Leonardo DiCaprio. When winning his Oscar for The Revenant in 2016, he used his speech as an opportunity to talk about climate change on a world stage.
“We need to support leaders around the world who do not speak for the big polluters, but who speak for all of humanity, for the indigenous people of the world, for the billions and billions of underprivileged people out there who would be most affected by this.
“For our children's children, and for those people out there whose voices have been drowned out by the politics of greed.”
DiCaprio and Ford are far from alone in the fight against climate change.
The likes of Emma Thompson, Dia Mirza and Mark Ruffalo are all known for speaking out about environmental issues regularly, with both Thompson and Ruffalo regularly seen at anti-fracking protests in both the UK and USA, too.

I urge all my fans to get out and make difference and ‘take care’ of not only themselves but the ones around them as well.” Khan](https://www.thenationalnews.com/resizer/v2/52TKRHOKZNELBVFJNV7J7XNXMQ.jpg?smart=true&auth=22bdb22fe9a23f4b3067f4ac0a6b05f9a3c2b4bb984f0504e9e6781daecf38b7&width=400&height=225)

![Mark Ruffalo: Best known for playing The Hulk, another very green role Mark Ruffalo has taken on is environmental activist. He is particularly outspoken when it comes to fracking and renewable energy sources. “When I moved to a rural farming community in upstate New York, it happened to be in the middle of the shale gas boom, and I started to hear anecdotal stories from people living there. Life gets really real when you’re talking with people who are struggling for existence,” Ruffalo is quoted as saying. “The poor people in the world are suffering the most from this system [of market-driven energy use]. It’s violent to go into a community and poison them, even if that violence is in slow motion.” Reuters](https://www.thenationalnews.com/resizer/v2/UXBJQRECKRSH7H2ID56OADJNLU.jpg?smart=true&auth=a913913cdea2e530870569b3ee548daed2d97a7bba46f2d1d69ca916f42048e1&width=400&height=225)
