World’s first Harper’s Bazaar Cafe opens in Dubai

The world’s first Harper’s Bazaar Cafe has opened in Dubai Design District (d3). The target clientele for the cafe? Dubai’s food-, art-, design- and fashion-loving crowd, of course — and the space speaks to that with an interior that is warm, elegant and sophisticated.

The cafe can seat 140 (74 inside and an additional 66 on the outdoor terrace). The terrace was designed with the secret gardens of renowned fashion houses in mind and doubles as an event space. There’s a selection of breakfast dishes on the menu along with a smattering of soups, salads and sandwiches including cured duck salad; goose ham baguette; smoked tomato soup and chicken croquettes.

The cafe comes from Marka PJSC (the first public stock retail operator in the UAE). It’s the first time Hearst Magazines International has ventured into the food and beverage sector — and it seems this won’t be the only one. Hesham Al Mekkawi, managing director of Marka Hospitality, says: “We are proud to have launched the world’s first Harper’s Bazaar Café in Dubai Design District and look forward to the d3 location serving as a launch pad for future growth and expansion of this exciting concept in the MENA region.”

Kim St. Clair Bodden, Hearst Magazines International senior vice president and editorial director, says: “Harper’s Bazaar launched in Dubai in 2007 and was immediately embraced by fashion-forward readers in the UAE, who love the expertly curated, graphic style and visual energy that defines the brand around the world. The Café brings that vision to life in a chic environment that highlights the ultimate luxury: extraordinary service.”

Harper’s Bazaar Cafe is located on the ground floor of building 9 in Dubai Design District. 04 557 8009
