When it comes to celebrity engagement rings, it appears brides-to-be would be most likely to say "I do" to the Duchess of Cambridge's.
The sapphire and diamond ring worn by the royal, and previously sported by the late Diana, Princess of Wales, has been voted the world's most popular engagement ring in a new survey.
In a study commissioned by the Natural Diamond Council, a fifth of 2,000 participants named the duchess's oval-cut gem as their favourite engagement ring. The 12-carat sapphire, surrounded by a halo of white diamonds, just pipped the ring worn by the royal's sister-in-law to the post.
Meghan, Duchess of Sussex's jewellery came in second place, with her trilogy ring designed by Prince Harry. The central diamond sourced from Botswana, flanked by two smaller diamonds from Princess Diana’s personal jewellery collection, garnered 18 per cent of the study's votes.

Miley Cyrus’s diamond solitaire, which she wore while married to Liam Hemsworth, came in third, though the couple split last year. Hailey Bieber's large oval diamond, gifted by husband Justin Bieber in 2018, came in fourth, while Beyonce's 18-carat emerald-cut diamond, given to her by rapper Jay-Z, nabbed fifth place.
Elizabeth Taylor's 33-carat Krupp Diamond ring, given to the actress by Richard Burton, Cardi B's pear-cut diamond from on-off husband Offset, and the ring worn by Demi Lovato during her short-lived engagement to Max Ehrich earlier this year were also cited.
As part of the study, more than two-thirds of respondents revealed that classic, colourless white diamonds would be the preferred gemstone for an engagement ring, followed by sapphires and then pink diamonds.
