A series of free cultural summer camps will be taking place across the UAE

The camps aim to develop young people's ability to communicate and express themselves in a creative and effective way

A series of cultural summer camps will take place across the UAE with the aim of discovering and developing young talent in the region.

Over the coming weeks, the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development (MCKD) will host its Cultural Summer Camp Programme at centres throughout Al Dhafra, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Dibba Al Fujairah and Masafi.

The aim of the camp is to develop young people's ability to communicate and express themselves in a creative and effective way, while educating them about future career opportunities based on their interests and aspirations.

The camp is also part of the Ministry’s strategy to preserve and protect the UAE’s cultural heritage for future generations, as well as build national pride and increase engagement with the cultural scene in the Emirates.

“The programme is an investment in our nation’s ambitious youth and aligns with the UAE leadership’s goal to ensure that the interests of the country’s youth are at the forefront,” says Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development.

"As a national platform for discovering new creative talent and offering them the opportunity to develop their skills while enabling the community through robust workshop programming, the diverse programme extends across educational and recreational activities that stimulate interest for the youth. The programme was curated to combine new skills, science, digital media and the arts in innovative sessions aiming to instil our youth with a creative mind and passion for culture and knowledge.”

The programme will partner with prestigious art, design and cultural institutions across the region, and will be held from Saturday, July 14, to Thursday, August 6. Topics set to be covered include visual arts, design, architecture, entrepreneurship, science and technology, media, meditation and life skills.

Registration for the workshops is through the MCKD website. The programme is open to all UAE-based and Emirati youngsters between the ages of five and 19, and is free of cost.
