Gaming giant EA has previewed the first title in its 10-year collaboration with Lucasfilm at the Electronic Entertainment Exposition in LA.

Fans had already seen scenes from Star Wars: Battlefront at Star Wars Celebration back in April, but this was a first glance at the actual gameplay, and the audience seemed to like what they saw.

As a soldier, players were treated to scenes from the Battle of Hoth, fighting stormtroopers, AT-ATs, TIE fighters, walkers and more. You hear the plans of attack on both the rebel and Imperial sides of the battle with views from the cockpits of Imperial walkers or rebel X-wing fighters.

There were also appearances by Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, serving as a reminder that the game is primarily good clean fun, and not to be taken as a part of Star Wars canon.

EA also presented a couple more Star Wars properties at the event. A mobile game called Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes that spans the entire Star Wars universe was mentioned briefly, and Star Wars: The Old Republic introduced a bioware expansion for the game called Knights of the Fallen Empire. In it, two Jedi seem to grow and develop their abilities, and the player will be able to choose what path one of them takes. The expansion pack will be free to all subscribers on Oct. 27.

Star Wars: Battlefront, meanwhile, is due for release on November 17th, a month before Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens hits cinemas.
