Junoon are set to bring their mystical rock vibes to Dubai. The legendary Pakistani outfit will perform at Dubai’s Global Village on Friday, March 20. To say the show will be anticipated will be an understatement, because as well as releasing a string of pioneering rock singles throughout the 1990s, Junoon’s UAE return comes after the band recently reunited following a 13-year-split. Formed in 1990, Junnon beguiled listeners through their brand of straight pop rock and Sufi-inspired lyricism. Lead by founder, songwriter and guitarist Salman Ahmed, the band struggled in the early years before finding success and notoriety with politically inspired singles Talaash and Ehtessab. The group eventually achieved pop-star status with the release of Inquilab. The 1996 album was home to Junoon's biggest anthem Jazba-e-Junoon, which went to become the unofficial anthem of the 1996 Cricket World Cup in Pakistan. “Junoonis” can expect all the hits, and perhaps some new material, when the band play in the open air stage at Global Village. Junoon to perform Global Village, Dubai on Friday, March 20; 9pm; entry Dh15; www.globalvillage.ae _________________ Read more: 'Game of Thrones' star Carice Van Houten is coming to Comic Con Dubai Liam Gallagher, Kaiser Chiefs and Clean Bandit to play at Abu Dhabi’s Club Social festival Confirmed: K-pop band Super Junior is coming to Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena _________________
