'Once Upon a Time In Hollywood' to premiere at Cannes Film Festival

The Quentin Tarantino movie starring Margot Robbie, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt will be screened at the France film festival

A last-minute addition for the Cannes Film Festival line-up, Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time In Hollywood will have its world premiere at the French festival.

Whether or not the film – starring Margot Robbie, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt – would be featured had been much speculated, but it has now been confirmed by Cannes Film Festival General Delegate, Thierry Fremaux.

"We were afraid the film would not be ready, as it wouldn't be released until late July, but Quentin Tarantino, who has not left the editing room in four months, is a real, loyal and punctual child of Cannes," Fremaux explained of the delay to announce the film in mid-April with the rest of the line-up.

"Like for Inglourious Basterds, he'll definitely be there – 25 years after the Palme d'or for Pulp Fiction – with a finished film screened in 35mm and his cast in tow," Fremaux added.

"His film is a love letter to the Hollywood of his childhood, a rock music tour of 1969, and an ode to cinema as a whole. In addition to thanking Quentin and his crew for spending days and nights in the editing room, the Festival wants to give special thanks to the teams at Sony Pictures, who made all of this possible."

Intermezzo by Abdellatif Kechiche has also been added to the roster. Kechiche previously won the Palme d'Or for Blue Is the Warmest Color in 2013.

The 2019 Cannes Film Festival will run from May 14 to 25. Other films on the line-up include: Pedro Almodovar's Pain and Glory, Marco Bellocchio's The Traitor, Martin Scorsese's The Irishman, Mati Diop's Atlantique, Steven Soderbergh's The Laundromat, Mounia Meddour's Papicha, Bong Joon-ho's Parasite and Jim Jarmusch's The Dead Don't Die.
