Imagine if you could step into Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night. If you could explore the whirlpools of ultramarine and cobalt blue hanging above your head, right by the moon and the stars lit by Van Gogh's mix of Indian and zinc yellow. It is a fresh way of appreciating the late 19th-century post-impressionist painting, and a new theatre at the Madinat Jumeirah just might make it possible.

The space will be officially launched sometime later this month by hosting a fully-immersive exhibition, which will allow visitors to dive into masterpieces by Van Gogh, Claude Monet, Edvard Munch and Wassily Kandisky to name a few.  Madinat Jumeirah

Dubbed ToDA (Theatre of Digital Art Dubai), the collaboration between Madinat Jumeirah and Vision Multimedia Projects will transform the Arabian bazaar’s arts space into a modern stage for digital art. It combines multimedia exhibitions, multi-sensory installations and art in virtual reality, promising to become an art, education and entertainment cluster at the same time. The space will open on Tuesday, October 13

The videos on ToDA's YouTube page gives us a glimpse of what is to come. The space will officially launch sometime later this month by hosting a fully-immersive exhibition, which will allow visitors to dive into masterpieces by Van Gogh, Claude Monet, Edvard Munch and Wassily Kandinsky, to name a few. A virtual-reality enhanced exhibition will also open the doors to the works and workspaces of Russian avant-garde artists Kazimir Malevich and Natalia Goncharova. Visitors will be able to interact with objects from the artists' studios and paint their own variations of the abstract works.

ToDA will also present an interactive installation called Fantastic Beasts, which allows children (and adults hopefully) to create their own fantastic creature. The exact launch date of the exhibitions are still unconfirmed.

“Souk Madinat Jumeirah is an iconic destination that continues to connect visitors with a traditional Arabian experience blended with modern glimpse of the past,” marketing director at Dubai Retail Nicola Walsh, said in a statement.

“It is also a destination that provides a full array of entertainment, and the new Theatre of Digital Art Dubai and Amphitheatre performance space will add to the destination’s rich cultural offering.”
