UAE condemns 'terrorist' bomb attack on Saudi police patrol in Qatif

The UAE on Friday strongly condemned a bomb attack on a Saudi police patrol which killed one officer and wounded six others in the eastern province of Qatif.

The patrol was targeted in the neighbourhood of Al Musara, killing Cpl Abdullah Al Turki and wounding six other police officers, the Saudi interior ministry said. The ministry blamed the attack on "terrorists", without giving any further details.

A statement from UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation called for concerted efforts from the international community in "confronting the scourge" of terrorism.

The ministry reiterated its position against all forms and manifestations of terrorism that target all, regardless religion and race.

The UAE also sent its condolences to the Saudi government, the family of the fallen police officer and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

The attack occurred in the same area where a policeman was killed and three others wounded in a bombing on Tuesday morning. Three people, including a police officer, were also killed last month in bombings in Qatif.
