DUBAI // A 22-year-old Pakistani man has appeared in court charged with possession of one kilogramme of heroin with intent to sell.
Prosecutors said N K was arrested after anti-narcotics officers were tipped off that his compatriot A K was in possession of a large amount of drugs.
Undercover officers called A K and convinced him they wanted to buy the drugs for Dh51,000.
“We agreed with A K to meet N K in Al Qusais to get the 1kg of drugs,” police officer AA, 51, told prosecutors.
Undercover agents arrested N K after they received the drugs and he had taken the Dh51,000.
During interrogations, N K told police he was promised a percentage of the money from the drug deal.
At Dubai Criminal Court, N K denied a charge of possession of illegal drugs with the intent to sell, and told the presiding judge that he was only given the drugs for safe keeping.
The case was adjourned until April 21.
