DUBAI // A limousine driver’s leg was broken when he tried to help a friend who was being assaulted by four men.
Two Indians and two Sri Lankans, aged between 25 and 34, were charged with physical assault, causing permanent disability and consuming alcohol without a licence. They did not appear in Dubai Criminal Court to enter a plea.
On December 22 last year, the 42-year-old Pakistani victim saw the defendants assaulting a colleague near a hotel in Al Barsha.
“I went over to end the dispute, but I was assaulted by the four men and fainted, then woke up at the hospital,” said the victim.
Another driver saw the attack and called police.
No details about the reasons of the original dispute were made available.
A verdict is expected on January 18.
