Four injured after Dubai warehouse collapses

DUBAI // Four people were injured when a warehouse in Al Quoz collapsed due to an explosion.

Lt Col Ahmed Burqibah, deputy director of Dubai Police’s Search and Rescue Department, said that the warehouse, which stores construction equipment, was relatively empty.

Units from the Bur Dubai Police Station, Dubai Civil Defence, and Search and Rescue headed to the scene. However, the cause of the explosion has yet to be determined.

“Experts on Monday afternoon went to collect samples to know the reason behind the explosion, but it will probably take a few days,” he said, adding that two people, who were seriously injured, were airlifted to Rashid Hospital.

Two other men sustained moderate injuries and were transferred to hospital via ambulance.

Preliminary reports suggest that the gas for the air conditioning units caused the explosion.
