Mark your calendars. Coldplay are returning to Abu Dhabi after a five-year hiatus.

The British quartet will play a gig on New Year’s Eve at du Arena on Yas Island as part of their A Head Full of Dreams tour — the tour that may or may not be the group’s last following the release of an album of the same name.

The album was released just under a year ago and features hit singles such as Hymn for the Weekend and Adventure of a Lifetime.

This is the third time Coldplay has performed in the UAE, following gigs in 2009 and 2011. The news comes during the Formula One festivities that included after-race concert performances by Pitbull, The Chemical Brothers, Lionel Richie, and Rihanna.

Other hit songs Coldplay are known for include A Sky Full of Stars, Paradise, Every Teardrop is a Waterfall, and Yellow.

Announcing the gig, organisers Flash said anyone with a ticket to this year’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be able to get a 20 per cent discount on Coldplay tickets.

Tickets go on sale November 30. For more information visit www.thinkflash.ae
