Jeffar Khaldi’s mural adorns the walls of a new Dubai restaurant

Renowned Palestinian artist Jeffar Khaldi, who has a brand new exhibition opening in Meem Gallery next week, has been commissioned to create art work for the interior of a new restaurant in DIFC.

Dusty’s Dubai, a restaurant that offers a “homegrown all-day dining concept” serving breakfast, lunch and dinner inspired by the owner and founder, Dusty Tourani’s extensive travels is now open in Al Fattan Currency House. Diners will not only be treated to quality food but they will be lucky enough to experience a selection of one-off pieces from Khaldi, whose work is generally concerned with politics or the absurdity of the modern condition.

“Personally, I don’t consider myself to be an art connoisseur,” says Tourani. “However, Jeffar Khaldi’s work has always fascinated me. Despite having no formal training in the arts, his work is impactful, thought provoking and full of energy.

When I decided to launch Dusty’s Dubai, I wanted the interiors to stand out, and Jeffar’s work seemed like a perfect choice. It reflects the quirky arty style we wanted to achieve. The art in here is a conversation starter, and that’s definitely a good feature in any restaurant.”
