Premier League predictions: City win Manchester derby, Spurs and Arsenal all square

We pick out the winners and losers from the next round of English top-flight fixtures

THURSDAY - Fulham v Chelsea (midnight kick-off UAE): Tricky times for Chelsea manager Graham Potter. Languishing 10th in the table, out of both domestic cups and attempting to placate a fanbase on the brink of mutiny. He now faces a London derby against a Fulham side looking to make it four wins on the spin. Prediction: Fulham 2 Chelsea 1. AP

FRIDAY - Aston Villa v Leeds United (midnight): After definite signs of improvement under Unai Emery, Villa were given a nasty jolt by last week's FA Cup capitulation at home to Stevenage. Leeds narrowly avoided a cup shock of their own against Cardiff but have gone four games without a league win. Prediction: Villa 3 Leeds 2. Reuters

SATURDAY - Manchester United v Manchester City (4.30pm): The last time Erling Haaland took on United, the Norwegian goal monster scored a hat-trick and City won 6-3 at the Etihad. While they might find it a bit tougher at Old Trafford, still cannot see anything other than another Haaland goal and another City win here. Prediction: United 1 City 3. AFP

Brighton v Liverpool (7pm): The Seagulls should be flying high after thrashing Liverpool's Merseyside rivals Everton 4-1 last time out. Jurgen Klopp's side sit sixth in the table, two places and one point ahead of Brighton but go into the game on the back of a poor performance of their own - a 3-1 loss at Brentford. Prediction: Brighton 1 Liverpool 2. Reuters

Everton v Southampton (7pm): Two managers under intense pressure meet at Goodison Park. Frank Lampard's Everton are third bottom of the table having not won since October. The Saints are rock bottom after losing six league games in a row, leaving Nathan Jones without a point from his four matches in charge. Prediction: Everton 2 Southampton 0. Reuters

Nottingham Forest v Leicester City (7pm): Definite signs of life at Forest after their early season struggles. A run of just one defeat in five games has helped drag them out of the bottom three and they sit level on points with 13th-place Leicester. The Foxes have been heading in the other direction after three defeats in a row. Prediction: Forest 1 Leicester 0. Getty

Wolves v West Ham (7pm): West Ham managed to end their streak of five consecutive defeats with their draw against Leeds - a run manager David Moyes described as 'shameful' and leaves them out of the bottom three only on goal difference. Wolves are down in 19th having won just once in eight games. Prediction: Wolves 1 West Ham 1. Getty

Brentford v Bournemouth (9.30pm): The Bees had their ground rocking last time out in the league when they dispatched Liverpool 3-1 but that win was followed by a disappointing FA Cup exit at home to West Ham. Bournemouth have lost four league games in a row without scoring a goal. Prediction: Brentford 3 Bournemouth 0. Reuters

SUNDAY - Chelsea v Crystal Palace (6pm): Consistency continues to be a problem for Palace who followed up a 2-0 win at Bournemouth with a 4-0 battering by Spurs and an FA Cup exit against struggling Southampton. Chelsea face their second London derby in three days. Prediction: Chelsea 2 Palace 1. Getty

Newcastle United v Fulham (6pm): Despite two goalless league draws on the spin, Newcastle are still sitting pretty in the top four having lost just one game all season. When the two teams met earlier in the campaign, the Magpies ran out convincing 4-1 winners. Prediction: Newcastle 2 Fulham 0. Reuters

Tottenham v Arsenal (8.30pm): A second-half goal-fest saw Spurs earn a much-needed 4-0 win at Crystal Palace, only their second victory in five league games, going into this North London derby. Table-topping Arsenal were held to a frustrating draw by Newcastle and might have to settle for a point again here. Spurs 2 Arsenal 2. Getty

This week's round of games begins on Thursday when Fulham take on London rivals Chelsea at Craven Cottage, while Aston Villa play host to Leeds United 24 hours later.

A busy Saturday kicks-off with the Manchester derby between City and United at Old Trafford with Erik ten Haag's side hoping to close the gap on their second-placed rivals down to just one point.

Brighton then entertain Liverpool on the south coast, Everton take on Southampton at Goodison Park, Nottingham Forest face Leicester City at the City Ground, Wolves tackle fellow strugglers West Ham in the Midlands, while Brentford are at home to Bournemouth in the late game.

Sunday starts with Chelsea against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge, Newcastle United play host to Fulham and then the North London derby to end the weekend's proceedings when Spurs face Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
