We've done yoga on a stand-up paddleboard, and that was challenging enough, but the Indo-Tibetan Border Police have taken things one step further, practicing the demanding discipline's poses atop a horse and with dogs:
The patrol are the first responders during natural disasters in the Himalayas, and regularly rescue people stuck at high altitude and in the extreme cold. They also man the borders and monitor smuggling.
For International Yoga Day this weekend, the force – of which there are around 89,000 active personnel – performed yoga across India, in the many different locations in which they are based. They shared their many different yoga routines on social media to celebrate the day, showcasing the diverse range of landscapes that they work in.
They say they regularly perform yoga to keep fit, which they have to be, considering many of them work at such high altitude.
