The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) is continuing to help Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
The campaign includes providing relief to 30,000 displaced families. It will continue for three months and in three phases, with aid for 10,000 families in each one, state news agency Wam said yesterday. Food parcels and basic materials are being distributed directly from the office of the authority in Lebanon in cooperation with the Lebanese Red Cross, said Naima Eid Al Muhairi, the deputy secretary-general for relief and projects.
The poorest families who have recently arrived in Lebanon and have not found shelter are among those being helped, she said.
Several international bodies, including the International Organisation for Migration in Geneva, have commended the authority's efforts in providing humanitarian relief and support for Syrian refugees in both Lebanon and Jordan, Wam said.
The organisations also expressed their willingness to provide technical assistance and support to enable the authority to continue its efforts, Wam added.
