Coronavirus: Dubai launches 'self sterilisation corridor’ to protect paramedics

Corridor sprays workers with mist that disinfects clothes in less than 20 seconds

Dubai has introduced a self-sanitisation corridor to protect paramedics who may have been exposed to Covid-19.

The booth, which has been installed at the entrance of Dubai Ambulance's employee accommodation, helps kill pathogens that may be on their clothes.

It aims to help protect both the community and frontline workers, Dubai Ambulance’s executive director, Khalifa Aldrai, said.

Sensors trigger the spray when movement is detected in the corridor, helping to save on energy.

The booth sterilises clothes, shoes, and provides access to hand sanitisers.

Thermal screening equipment has also been installed at the staff accommodation premises to monitor paramedics' temperatures.
