Police officers in Dubai set a new Guinness World Record on Thursday by pulling an Emirates A380 jet over 100 metres.
Fifty-six officers worked together to drag the 302-tonne Airbus A380 over the line as part the Dubai Fitness Challenge.
It beat a record set in Hong Kong where 100 people pulled a plane weighing 218 tonnes over the same distance.
Maj Gen Abdullah Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, witnessed the feat. He said the fitness challenge laid down by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, has contributed to raising the culture of sport and fitness in the UAE.
It has also helped foster an innovative approach to sports whereby people are taking part in different activities every day, Maj Gen Al Marri said.
Brig Gen Ahmed bin Thani, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Ports Affairs, Brig Gen Abdullah Khan, Director General of Airport Security and Jamal Al Hai, Vice President at Dubai Airports also watched the record attempt.
