Al Bateen Beach project to open in March

Redevelopment includes a public beach, picnic areas, sports courts, a playground and food stalls.

ABU DHABI // Construction for the Al Bateen Beach project has been completed and the 800-metre waterfront redevelopment will open to the public in March, the Tourism Development and Investment Company has announced.

The beach has been handed over to the municipality after about two years of redevelopment. The first 200 metres were unveiled in December.

The redevelopment includes a public beach, picnic areas, sports courts, a playground and food stalls. The beach will be staffed by lifeguards and security personnel and daytime swimming will be allowed. The sports facility is designed for volleyball and football.

"The beachside park will primarily cater to those who reside nearby, and, as such, it has been developed to have a community feel to it and with families in mind," said Ali Al Hammadi, executive director of project services for TDIC.
