Duke and Duchess of Sussex open Instagram account

The couple are expecting a baby soon

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have launched their own Instagram account on Tuesday, @sussexroyal. It comes as the couple, also known as Prince Harry and Meghan, ready themselves for the arrival of their first child this Spring.

Beforehand, they had shared an account run by Kensington Palace with Harry's brother, Prince William, and his family. The former is sixth in line to the British throne and the latter is second, behind his father Prince Charles and grandmother Queen Elizabeth.

Last month, it was announced that as well as moving from London to Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor Estate to the west of the capital, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, as Harry and Meghan are formally known, would be hiring an entirely new communications staff.

"Welcome to our official Instagram; we look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the causes we support, important announcements, and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues," the royal couple captioned their first post.

At the time of writing, the account had been live for 18 hours and had 2.1 million followers.
