Social media hacker who used photos in scam is arrested

The Syrian is said to have set up two fake social media accounts using a girl’s photos to lure people into his scams.

SHARJAH // Police arrested a man who allegedly hacked a girl’s social media account, stole her photos and videos and used them for blackmail.

The Syrian suspect was said to have set up two fake social media accounts using the girl’s photos to lure people into his scams.

The hacking was reported to Sharjah Police and officers identified the suspect. A report will be submitted to prosecutors.

Police warned residents against exploiting social media for criminal activities, saying its officers were trained to identify such abuses.

Parents were also urged to monitor their children’s activities on social media to avoid exploitation of their images.

Police also warned girls to be careful when posting photos of themselves and to avoid sharing personal information on the internet.
