More than one million posts have been submitted to the #MyDubai’s Instagram account.
The hashtag initiative was launched just six months ago by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, to create the world’s first autobiography of the emirate.
Sheikh Hamdan asked residents and visitors to join him in sharing their experience of Dubai through photos, videos and stories on social media.
A selection of the images hash-tagged with #MyDubai will also be showcased in the coming months at Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
The “DIFC Ticker” – a 96-metre-long screen – will feature a rolling selection of the images that were contributed on Instagram.
The Elevision Media company will also donate more than 300 screens that will be installed in more than 75 buildings featuring the #MyDubai images daily.
Raja Al Mazrouei, head of operations at DIFC Authority said the initiative had provided “an amazing opportunity for the world to see a different side of Dubai”.
“In addition to exhibiting images submitted on Instagram, during the next six months we look forward to encouraging further participation by using the screen to share #MyDubai stories that use the hashtag on Twitter and Instagram,” she said.
