The UAE woke to scattered showers on Monday, as rain clouds swept in over the coast from the Arabian sea.

The heaviest showers fell over Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah, but other areas in Abu Dhabi and Dubai also experienced rain, as the sun rose to reveal grey skies.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) had issued an alert overnight for rain and fresh winds affecting anywhere between near Al Ruwais and Fujairah on the east coast of the country.

NCM and the Storm Centre posted videos of the rain falling overnight in Ras Al Khaimah and other parts of the UAE on their Twitter pages.

The country will also see a significant drop in temperatures on Monday, according to forecasters at NCM.

Wind speeds may reach up to 50km per hour by the coast causing dust storms.

Temperatures could reach 24°C in Abu Dhabi and 25°C in Dubai, the NCM said.

It will be rough to very rough at times in the Arabian Gulf and rough in the Sea of Oman.
