DUBAI // Twelve elderly Emiratis have been taken on a limousine tour of the emirate’s tourist destinations, as part of the Zayed bin Mohammed Family Gathering, the Roads and Transport Authority said.

The seniors were taken to Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Fountain and Dubai Mall. The RTA’s Dubai Taxi Corporation took them to see the tram at Dubai Marina and to the Dubai Canal, to see ongoing works.

“RTA is keen on organising this type of tours to entertain certain community segments and familiarise them with RTA limo services,” said Yousef Mohammed Al Ali, chief executive of Dubai Taxi Corporation.

“This recreational event is also aimed at integrating elderlies in the community and fill their free time with meaningful and fun activities.”

He said such programmes help seniors escape isolation.

The Family Gathering is organised by Dubai Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities and hosts events and entertainment activities.
