A new procedure for expatriates to pay tuition fees for Abu Dhabi government schools will prevent late and non-payment.

The system, approved by the Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) yesterday, will come into effect this academic year.

Parents will have about two months to settle fees. If they are not paid on time, students risk being blocked from enrolling at any public school in the emirate.

In the past three years about 15,000 students have been exempt from paying unsettled tuition fees, at an estimated cost of Dh192 million.
