Song of Lahore documents a Pakistani jazz triumph in the US
The musicians in the Sachal Ensemble came together out of cultural repression but did not gain a larger audience until they started to interpret jazz standards. After a reworking of Dave Brubeck's Take Five, they were invited to play perform with Wynton Marsalis and a jazz orchestra at New York's Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.
